Eight-time All-American Annabeth Eberle will finish her degree in exercise and sport science while serving as a student-assistant coach for the team she led to four straight NCAA Super Six appearances from 2002-05. Eberle, only the second three-time MVP in school history, was also the team co-captain as a junior and senior. Including ties, she finished her career with eight of Utah's all-time top 10 all-around scores. She also won 66 individual event titles and posted six 10.0 scores in her amazing career. Nearly perfect in terms of staying on the apparatus, she "hit" 98 percent of her routines (105-107) her junior and senior seasons.
Eberle capped her career at Utah last April, leading the Utes to a third-place finish at the NCAA Championships while gathering four All-America awards. She qualified for event finals on vault (sixth) and floor (eighth) and was also a first-team All-American in the all-around. Her 39.50 all-around score the first day of NCAA Championships competition was the second best score of the afternoon session and the seventh-best overall. She was a 2005 second-team All-American on the beam. Other highlights of her senior season included winning the NCAA North Central Regional all-around, vault and floor championships. She was named a finalist for the AAI Senior Gymnast and Broderick Awards.
The 2004 NCAA runner-up on the vault, Eberle was voted the North Central Region Gymnast of the Year. Her 39.775 all-around score vs. Brigham Young is the fifth-best all-around score ever at Utah. Despite missing two and a half meets with an ankle injury, she led Utah with 21 victories.
As a sophomore, she was a three-time All-American and recorded Utah's best all-around finish at the NCAA Championships (fourth). She was also a first-team All-American on vault and made the second team on bars. Eberle won the NCAA North Central Region all-around title and her 20 total victories ranked second on the 2003 Utah team.
Her first postseason victory came as a freshman, when she won the 2002 NCAA West Region vault title. Fittingly for one of the best vaulters in the nation, Eberle began her career by placing first on her very first collegiate vault attempt.
She came to Utah after seven years on the U.S. National Team. The native of Reno, Nev., was born April 14, 1983.
