Having started playing tennis professionally at age 16, Barbara Schett was an Austrian self-starter in the challenging world of tennis. For eleven straight years, Barbara had played in the 48 games for her team, the Austrian Fed Cup. Of the 48 games that Barbara had participated in, she excelled in 30, winning medals for the state.
Barbara also reached the quarterfinals when she played in the singles and doubles, during the Sydney 2000 Olympics.
Never Settling For Anything Less
Barbara garnered an impressive 13 wins in the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA). Three of which were won in the singles category, the remaining ten are garnered in the doubles division. Barbara’s skills were not only contained within the confines of the WTA; Barbara’s agility and dexterity were recognized in the International Tennis Federation (ITF) after winning a game.
In 1999, Barbara reached the season ending of the WTA Tour Championships, making it to the quarterfinals. The Austrian tennis player went as far as being named TENNIS Magazine’s Most Improved Player.

In the year 1991, Barbara started off with a debut tour in Kitzbuhel, Austria as a wild card, reaching the quarterfinals at the ITF in the Lyss-SUI.

In 1992, a year after Barbara’s victory at the ITF, she won her first professional singles title at the ITF in the Zaragosa-ESP.
Breaking Into the Top 200
Barbara broke into the Top 200 as she reached the quarterfinals again at Kitzbuhel as a qualifier. All of which took place in 1993.
