Arguably the best female in the history of skateboarding, Elissa Steamer has radically redefined the role of women in this male-dominated sport. Her career is riddled with firsts: she was the first female skater to have a pro model deck, as well as the first woman to be issued a pro model street skateboarding shoe—the etnies Steamer, followed by the etnies Tross. Elissa also has the distinction of being the first and only female skater in any of the Tony Hawk video games. She regularly makes the cut skating with the boys, and is virtually unrivaled among her female peers.
