Adams has been among the country’s top hurdlers since 2001 and is a two-time World Outdoor finalist in the 110h. She was the hottest hurdler on the European circuit in 2001, winning five IAAF Grand Prix meets …was consistent in 2002…Adams graduated from UH in December ’00 with a bachelor’s degree in corporate communications and a minor in advertising…her honors include UH Athlete of the Year in ‘98, ‘00 and ’01…Women’s Indoor Track and Field MVP in ‘98, ‘00 and ‘01…Women’s Outdoor Track and Field MVP in ‘98, ‘99 and ‘00…named Freshman of the Year at Conference USA’s indoor and outdoor championships…she sat out during the ’99 indoor season with an injured heel…member of the honor roll at UH for three years…high school state champion in 100 and 300m hurdles at Tomball High…set class 5A record in 300 hurdles…at the end of the 2002 season Adams moved from Houston and the coaching of Tom and Kyle Tellez to Champaign, Illinois to be trained by the University of Illinois’ women’s head coach Gary Winckler…earned All-American honors as a cheerleader during prep career…appeared on “The Tonight Show” with Jay Leno on May 14, 2003…in the Olympic year, Adams took up her free time by restoring her kitchen and learning to play the harmonica…Adams’ inspiration to play the harmonica comes from the fact that her track hero, Babe Didriksen, also played the instrument.
