Jodie Nelson gracefully walks the line between accomplished competitor and soul surfer. The Surfside, California native started surfing at the age of 12, after finding an old single fin left over from her father's college days in her garage. She recalls that she immediately "fell in love with the ocean" the first time she paddled out, and has been surfing ever since. "The more and more I surf, the more I want to escape into it," she says.
Jodie's charisma, athleticism and commitment to surfing have made her one of the sport's best and most highly respected ambassadors. The goofy foot has made her mark by tackling everything from world-class competitions to giant waves in Tahiti, and her pervasive love of surfing shines through in everything she does. "I love surfing," she says, "I love traveling. I love making a difference in the sport and inspiring little kids."
