PROFILE
Mary Pierce is a French-American women's professional tennis player on the WTA tour and the winner of a total of four Grand Slam titles: two in singles; and two in doubles. Pierce plays for France.
Mary Pierce is often obscured by some of the bigger egos and talents on the WTA tour. Whether it is a Williams sister or the striking but winless Anna Kournikova, Pierce just does not receive the publicity she deserves. To be honest, she has been hobbled of late with various ailments, but Pierce is a force on the tennis circuit when in top shape.
There are not many who can claim to have won a clay court Grand Slam and a hard court Major in their career. With a win in Australia in 1995 and in France in 2000, Pierce can hold court with the best on tour. Her physique is beyond par and she submits to a notorious training schedule that has produced fantastic results. Just keep your eyes on Pierce instead of the ball the next time you catch her in a match.
If we could rate her on tennis outfits alone, Pierce would score 100. She does bring a certain panache to her court appearances and while her fashion statements are not as enduring as the outrageous Serena and Venus Williams, Pierce has made a mark.
In addition, her off-court photographs are done with class. Pierce has a good handle on her personal sense of style and has never done injustice to herself, as far as we can tell. The latter should come as no surprise because Pierce was born in fashionable Montreal and is a citizen of France.
