Nadia Elena Comaneci is a Romanian gymnast, winner of five Olympic gold medals, and the first gymnast to be awarded a perfect score of 10 in an Olympic gymnastic event. She is one of the best-known gymnasts in the world and, along with Olga Korbut, is credited with popularizing the sport around the world.
One of the great Olympic champions of the past. Nadia trained as a gymnast since age 6. At the Montreal Olympics she was only 14 years old. During the team conmpetition she made history by being the first gymnast to receive perfect scores of 10 for her performances in the uneven bars and on the alance beam. Overall she gained seven 10s in the competition. Four years later, at the Moscow Olympics she again was looking to win gold but just missed out to place second.
