Trisha Fallon, three time Olympic medallist and current Captain of the Australian women’s basketball team, the Opals has returned to Australia after several European seasons and is gearing up to take Australia to victory in basketball’s Commonwealth Games debut in Melbourne 2006.
Trish, who started with the team as an eighteen-year-old, has had well over 200 games with the national team and has also played in the American Women‘s National Basketball Association.
In 1991 Trish was voted ‘Youth Player of the Year’ in the National Women’s Basketball League (WNBL) and the following year 1992 was selected for the Australian Women’s Team, the Opals.
Trisha has played Euroleague for a number of years in Germany, Italy and Spain and has also competed in the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) in the United States for Minnesota and Phoenix.
Trisha has competed at three Olympics – Atlanta USA, Sydney Australia and Athens Greece and during her career has achieved many accolades for her work ethic, team spirit and ability to adapt to new situations.
She received a bronze medal in the Atlanta Olympics in 1996; a Silver Medal in the Sydney Olympics in 2000 and an Olympic Silver Medal in Athens in 2004. She was Named International Player of the Year for 2003.
A headliner when she won most valuable player in the Sydney Flames‘ 1997 grand final win while pregnant, Trisha shared the overall MVP award with Lauren Jackson in 1999-2000, Fallon‘s last WNBL season.
As a member of the Spanish and Italian teams, Trish has made a strong contribution to winning Championships in these countries. In 2003 she was appointed Captain of the Spanish team, Ros Casares Valencia Spain. In her role as an Ambassador for the sport, Trisha is committed to encouraging young people to be active and healthy.
